Kaixiang Zhang (b. 2001) explores the threshold between the manifestation and dissipation of
matter. In his practice, action is a net cast into the river of time, collecting is a ritual prepared for
return, and social engagement serves as a revelation of hidden terrains.
Deeply rooted in the Taoist philosophy of Wu (Nothingness), his work seeks a poetic "middle
ground" within the resonance between the self and the universe. His practice emphasizes a deep
collaboration with the mutable: he has engaged in dialogues with the tidal rhythms of the River
Thames, the silken architecture of spiders, the shifting sunlight beyond the window, and the wild
clay of East Sussex. Meanwhile, he remains a keen observer of the dust strategically concealed
within the "white cube," capturing the ephemeral sighs of wind as they pass through yew branches.
