Following my return to London, a strange and unspoken synchronicity led me to move directly adjacent to the very stretch of the River Thames that had inspired my to make Wo weilest du? Walking along the foreshore, I began collecting weathered glass fragments scattered in the mud. These shards had traveled through an extensive material evolution, from raw sand to manufactured glass utensils, and now, stripped of their original functions and histories, they lay rounded and textured by the water. Restored to a quiet, matte luster by the washing river, these pieces undergo a grand elemental cycle much like human lives: from cloud to rain, from river to sea, constantly rising, falling, and returning to the source.
